THE premier proponents of the raw old-school bluegrass sound in Europe, or anywhere else for that matter, ๐“he T๐ซ๐ฎ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ฅ๐ž ๐•๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ฒ๐ฌ are unrivalled in their efforts at โ€œbringing back the sound of authentic 1950s Blue Grassโ€.

Formed in 2014 and named after the truffles grown in the valleys of their northern Italian homeland, this is a quartet who perform authentic bluegrass in the most uncompromising way, around a single microphone using period instrumentation and with the utmost attention to musical and aesthetic detail โ€“ just think a 1954 Starday Custom blue grass single and you get a pretty faithful idea of what the Truffle Valley Boys sound like. No strangers to the road, they clock thousands of kilometres each year placing themselves at the forefront of the bluegrass music scene in Europe. Headlining major festivals and events, their unique live performances have won them unanimous approval all over the continent, while their recordings have received worldwide airplay and enthusiastic reviews in publications such as Bluegrass Today and Bluegrass Unlimited, not to mention seeing them feature in a permanent exhibition to international bluegrass at the shrine to the genre, the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky.

๐Ÿ’ฌ "The members of this Italian band are devoted scholars of bluegrass musicโ€™s way-back, deep-catalog pages, and they do an excellent job of bringing some largely forgotten tunes back to the forefront while remaining faithful to the musicโ€™s raw and unadorned immediacy."

A Truffle Valley Boys show is a real throwback to a bygone era, their music a tribute to the genuine, raw and powerful sounds of the more obscure regional bluegrass acts of the 1950s. Their performances are unashamedly full steam ahead with a fiery drive and a healthy dose of good-natured entertainment. No strangers to the U.K., they return in July 2025 for a limited 3-gig run, with a return to The Betsey Trotwood, Farringdon Road, London, as guests of Foghorn presents My Grass is Blue, on Wednesday, July 23.

Catch them if you can, when you can. You wonโ€™t be disappointed.
