Cask Conditioned Ales - Regular

Spitfire SPITFIRE
PREMIUM KENTISH ALE
ABV: 4.5%
First produced as a short run in 1990 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, Spitfire was continued on a permanent basis after tremendous popular demand. Brewed using traditional varieties of English malt, this golden ale combines an underlying depth of maltiness, tinged with a subtle hint of toffee, with the bold citrus and fruity spiciness of Kentish hops, creating a thirst quenching ale with a well-balanced, lasting aftertaste. A real lip smacker.

Bishops Finger BISHOPS FINGER
KENTISH STRONG ALE
ABV: 5.0%
Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What's behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost, still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury.

Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from Shepherd Neame’s own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain's best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide and is registered under European Community regulation with a Protected Geographical Indicator (PGI).

A full-bodied, nut-brown, nourishing ale with a lingering hoppy finish, its dominant character is a generous, fruity flavour, reminiscent of bananas and pears with citrus overtones. It makes an ideal companion to food, or a delicious digestive after a meal.

Cask Conditioned Ales - Seasonal

Early Bird EARLY BIRD SPRING HOP ALE
ABV: 4.3% February to May
Early Bird Spring Hop Ale is brewed with the Early Bird single hop variety - hence the name.
A lovely light gold beer, it is full-bodied, distinctive and as refreshing as a spring day. Light, malty and smooth flavours provide a platform for the full floral spring-like aromas. Spicy early season Kentish hops pervade the rich light fruits of this seasonal ale.

Whitstable Bay WHITSTABLE BAY
ABV: 4.1% June to August
A pale, golden ale with a distinctive fresh hop bitterness, orange-citrus nose and hints of vanilla. The refreshing, zesty citrus bite balances well with satisfying biscuity notes to make a Kent classic –  ideal for summer drinking and a real Betsey favourite.

Late Red LATE RED AUTUMN HOP ALE
ABV: 4.5% September to November
Late Red is a complex, richly-flavoured autumn hop ale with an appropriately auburn hue.

The fresh water from the Brewery's Well balances the Cascade hops, specially grown in Kent, with their resinous note of Autumn leaves. A deep sweetness combining burnt notes with toffee and honey characterise this premium beer that achieves a perfect balance between rich, dark malt flavours, and a strong, robust hoppiness.

Original Porter ORIGINAL PORTER
ABV: 4.8% December to February
In the cold, dark days of winter there's a warm dark treat in store for lovers of traditional ale in the shape of Shepherd Neame's silky smooth Original Porter. A classic "winter warmer", it is a rich full-flavoured beer with an underlying liquorice note and a distinctive fruity spiciness and aroma delivered by Target and Goldings hops grown in Kent.

The English Porter style of beer first became popular in the 18th century with London's river porters, before providing refreshment in the 19th century among the factory workers of the Industrial Revolution.

Lagers

Asahi ASAHI SUPER DRY
ABV: 5.0%
Pronounced 'A-Sa-Hee' (meaning 'Rising Sun') this premium lager is described as 'super crisp, super clear and super dry'. Developed to be easy drinking, a good accompaniment to food and with a dry bite it’s Japan’s number 1 beer ... oh, and it’s super.

Oranjeboom ORANJEBOOM PILSENER
ABV: 4.1%

"The best draught lager in the world" according to judges at the 2002 Brewing Industry International Awards …

Orangeboom originates in Breda in The Netherlands taking its name from the orange tree which symbolises the Dutch royal family tree. A lighter version of the Continental pilsner style it has the full body and flavour you’d expect of a lager with a heavier alcoholic content by balancing a slight toffee maltiness with an apple-like fruitiness and lingering hoppy finish … and no, it doesn’t taste of oranges.

Hurlimann HÜRLIMANN STERNBRAU
ABV: 4.8%

Only the finest Swiss yeast and Challenger hops are used in this all-malt brew to produce a clean, tingling lager, with plenty of body, a hint of orange zest and a moreish finish. Brewed by Shepherd Neame in Faversham, to the exact recipe of the Hürlimann Brewery in Zürich, it won a Bronze Medal in the 2002 Brewing Industry International Awards and is considered by its many devotees to be one of the finest lagers brewed in Britain.

Holsten ExportHOLSTEN EXPORT
ABV: 4.7%

This is a classic continental lager, combining a full-bodied malty sweetness, with flowery hop overtones and a spicy aftertaste. A traditional German lager, it is brewed in accordance with Bavaria's strict Reinheitsgebot purity law, which was the world's first food and drink legislation! Announced by Duke Wilhelm IV in 1516, it ruled that only three ingredients should be used to brew beer - malted barley, water and hops.
